From The Boardroom May 2022 Monthly Update

It was my pleasure in May to attend the RYCT Keel Boat and Off the Beach presentation events, celebrating the 2021-22 sailing season. Congratulations to the winners, indeed everyone who participated, and our ongoing thanks to our dedicated volunteers who make things possible; people like Colin Pearce after whom our newest rescue boat was recently christened.

The 50th Pear Tree Picnic was a roaring success with over 45 boats and 120 people enjoying the day. Special thanks to Suzanne and Martin Betts who own the property and Past Commodore Tracy Matthews for organising the event.

Fundraising for our Floating Docks project is proceeding well. Thanks to those who have already donated. Remember that donations to this project made through the Australian Sports Foundation are fully tax deductible so make your donation prior to 30 June.

Nominations for RYCT Flag Officers and General Directors are now open, with a number of positions becoming vacant. Please consider what you can contribute to your club, whether as a director or perhaps joining one of our board committees.

Many congratulations to the team for bringing home the THA Award of Excellence for the ‘Best RSL, Sporting or Community Club 2022’, and a bronze winner in the ‘Outstanding Achievement in Training and Workforce Development’ category.

See you on the water!
