From The Boardroom November 2022 Monthly Update

Well, fine weather for the Club Picnic last weekend unfortunately didn’t eventuate; Richardsons Beach is not the place to be in a forecast 20-25 knot westerly! Never mind, the Club BBQ on the deck and indoor dining provided a suitable substitute.

Elsewhere in this edition of What’s in the Wind are details of the Cruising Yacht Club of Tasmania’s upcoming events. Many RYCT members are also CYCT members, and our own RYCT Director David Bowker is also Rear Commodore of CYCT. Both RYCT and CYCT are keen to foster greater cooperation around both Clubs’ events, both on and off the water, that are of interest to the cruising community.

December and the festive season are just about upon us; the Christmas tree is up and some painting in progress to spruce the Club up a bit. The Club is getting noticeably busier! Of note is our James Bond 007 themed New Years’ Eve event. Get your bookings in soon to avoid disappointment!

December sees RYCT hosting State Titles for the Sabre and SB20 classes, along with the annual Showdown regatta.

And then the 77th Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race will be upon us before we know it! Preparations at the Hobart end are well in hand thanks to the RYCT Finishing Committee chaired by Past Commodore Tracy Matthews. Thanks in advance to our veritable army of volunteers without whom fulfilling our responsibilities as Finishing Partner for the CYCA would not be possible.

See you on the water soon!
