From The Boardroom August 2022 Monthly Update

It was my pleasure to host New Members night on 10 August. It’s great to see membership growing, especially senior and family members. I remember that finding my way around the RYCT as a new member when I joined many years ago was a bit daunting, so if you see someone new or looking a bit lost around the Club please make an effort to make them feel welcome.

Our August board meeting was the first opportunity to welcome new directors David Bowker (on Zoom from the UK) and Nick Hutton to the board. My apologies to director Paul McCartney for omitting his name from the list of ongoing directors in my July newsletter.

The Marina Working Group met during the month and is pleased to report that the planning processes for the Entry Jetty and A Arm Replacement Project are progressing well. We expect a dilapidation report on the timber piles on E Arm to be finalized in the near future.

We expect delivery of four Floating Docks, generously funded by members, in mid September and hope to have them installed in readiness for the start of the 2022-23 Off the Beach sailing season.

The 2022-23 Combined Clubs Race and Cruising Program has been published. Thanks to the Vice Commodores and Sailing Managers of RYCT, DSS and BYC for their efforts over the winter months in surveying last season’s skippers for their views and developing a program that hopefully suits the majority.

As the days lengthen and weather hopefully warms up soon, we are on the countdown to Opening Day Maneuvers on 1 October.

See you on the water!
