From the Board Room August 2021

Congratulations to Vice Commodore Ross Mannering and Rear Commodore Phil Jackman on your re-election as RYCT Flag Officers at our recent AGM.

In August it was my pleasure to host the annual “At Home” event and introduce the Club’s Flag Officers and directors to over 130 members and guests. It was a terrific evening with welcome drinks courtesy of Spring Bay Distillery and James Boag, a beautifully presented smorgasbord of food and good music that saw the dance floor in use again. The dining room looked great as well; thanks Almer, Jason and staff!

At its August meeting, the Board confirmed a new Liveaboard Policy for implementation from 30 August 2021. This policy formalises current arrangements and imposes a modest additional fee to cover the additional impost on facilities and services by people who live aboard their boats in our marina.

As the days lengthen and the weather warms we can all look forward to Opening Day on 2 October at which Tasmania’s new Governor and RYCT Commodore in Chief, Her Excellency the Honorable Barbara Baker AC will take the salute.

See you on the water!

Richard Bevan
